BIRGIT LINDBERG | ANDERS FÄRDAL
Birgit Lindberg: "Accomplished piano teacher, cool lady of the world and thoroughly conditioned to the prerequisites for a decent living in a tough, competitive society. Background: Born and educated in Stockholm, Birgit Lindberg left the big city scene to pursue her budding career way up in north in Sweden and settled in the comparatively small town of Umeå. This proved to be the right move, since Umeå, for several decades, has been the jazz centre of the northern part of Sweden, with lots of jazz groups in operation, not to mention the fact that the longest running jazz festival in Sweden originated in Umeå in 1968. Ms. Lindberg has recieved a great number of culture rewards, and appeared as "house pianist" in several nationally broadcasted TV shows and movies. Birgit Lindberg's solid competence as accompanist behind various artists and tutoring young pupils the mysteries of the black and white keyboard jungle has been a blessing they all should be thankful for. And they are!" / Liner notes from "My Dear Ones" by Lars Lystedt.

Anders Färdal: "Sweden has always been blessed with outstanding guitar players. Ever since the roaring '40s, with masterful swing veterans like Folke Eriksberg, Sven Stiberg and Sten Carlberg, through the '50s with the still active Rune Gustavsson and the NOW Generation with stellar instrumentalists like Ulf Wakenius, Göran Klinghagen and Andreas Pettersson, to name a few. And now you may add Mr. Anders Färdal to this impressive list of Swedish guitar wizards. One aspect of Färdals work that has always fascinated me is his ability to reduce the degree to which his instrument sounds like an electric guitar. His amplification cut down to what is barely necessary, he sounds to all intents like an acoustic gutarist, the low frequencies more noticeable than the high, as can be detectable immediately in "Gone With The Wind", where both Färdals admitted heroes, Jim Hall and Wes Montgomery come to mind. Should anyone care to investigate further whether such characteristics as lyricism, soft textures and harmony-oriented improvisation still have a place in our noise-cluttered scene, you'll be happy to hear that Anders Färdal can be heard with the Bob Ellis Combo (CDA/Ancha ANC0401) in a tribute "Remembering Nat King Cole" as well as in a duo format together with the Swedish bass virtuoso Jörgen Smeby "Playin'" (CDA/Konfonium Audio KACD103)." / Liner notes from "My Dear Ones" by Lars Lystedt.
